Paul Howard Nicholas grew up in Port Arthur, Texas, a roudy Gulf Coast oil and shipping town during the 50s and 60s. After graduating high school, he returned to his native Los Angeles where he soon became swept up in a life of drugs and fast money. He credits his survival to God's mercy, his family's love, and to his discovery of creative writing. His best known works are "Diary of a Drifter," a collection of original poetry (Vantage Press) and "The Male Box," a critically acclaimed play about the American system of plea bargain justice.
